Grief is a country i know too well

Grief, for me, is a location, a place I’ve inhabited; silently vast and terribly well-known.

I wrote Dark Circles Under the Eyes from that space. From the horrid yearning of watching loved ones leave without a goodbye. From the nothingness of displacement and the deafening distraught of migration. This work lives beyond the borders of fiction; it is realism reworked.

In the novel, Uzo leaves Nigeria chasing healing. But home continues to follow her like a shadow, a place she both longs for and fears returning to.

I invite you to walk with me through this writing journey, where grief takes on a new form, becoming geography of its own.
